The private schools for the elite operate quite differently.
I’m talking about where-Elon-Musk-sends-his-kids elite.
And it matters a lot for you and your career.
In public and most regular private schools, you’re taught to listen to the teacher, do what they ask, and memorize the answers or formulas to pass the test.
In the top elite schools, children are taught to prioritize critical thinking, learning, skill development & entrepreneurial experience.
This is not a debate about the top 1% vs everyone else.
It’s an invitation to recognize that so much of how you were raised and educated was to make you a great follower.
The paradox of leadership is that being a great leader often requires going against the very beliefs and behaviors that make you feel comfortable, accepted, and appreciated.
This is a critical concept to bear in mind when considering productivity.
These beliefs and behaviors are the reasons why:
- You find yourself constantly striving to do more and more.
- You subconsciously put off riskier or more complex projects.
- You idolize expertise and knowledge over productivity.
- You remain fixated on being the ultimate authority in your field.
These self-preservation (co-dependent) tendencies result from how our education system trains your brain to never challenge authority, always seek approval, and emphasize quantity over quality.
These aren’t your fault. We were primed to be a follower.
However, making the shift is your responsibility. That is, if you want to unleash the leader you know you are.
These patterns are deeply wired into your subconscious. But at our Get Sh*t Done workshop on January 19th, we will show you the practical steps to take so that you can make the shifts you need to break free from these patterns and actually become the leader you know you are.
In half a day, we will reconnect you to your inner authority on where and how you spend your time, and identify the tasks that will allow you to have the impact you know you’re capable of.
With love,
Mari Carmen
P.S. The one other thing they teach in Elite schools? That when you find yourself face to face with a door…kick it down.
