3 reasons productivity is a form of self care (not the reasons you’d think).
1. Productivity is not just about work
It’s really about ordering the energy of your life so that you’re always putting your energy into what’s most important. That often means exercise, time with family and cooking (you know, the things you never have time for?).
Remember, your work is meant to serve to create a life you love. If you’ve lost the productivity plotline, you might have accidentally made your whole life about work. (Ask me how I know).
2. Productivity reduces your anxiety.
Unproductive people often suffer from anxiety. This is because although they’re working a ton, they aren’t clear and strategic about what they’re working on.
Their work is about ‘more more more’ and not necessarily what will make the most significant contribution.
3. You can stop killing yourself when you’re productive.
So many people are working hard to get noticed. They run themselves into the ground.
As a corporate executive, I can’t tell you how often someone would tell me they were killing themselves, only to find out their efforts did not align with the organization’s needs or personal values.
When you prioritize, make sure a good chunk of your work requires you to work on your zone of genius.
When you prioritize, ensure you’re also favoring what’s most important in your LIFE. Not only at work.
When you prioritize – make sure your to-do list is created from the result backward so you know that everything you do has a purpose beyond “just get it done.”
When you prioritize – Find the intersection between what you LOVE to do and what your organization needs. This ensures that the work you love to do is the work that gets you promoted.
If this is resonating, then you will want to be at the Get Sh*t Done Workshop on January 19th. Sign up with the link above and learn the strategies and tactics you need to prioritize yourself back into life!
See you there!
With love,
Mari Carmen
