Do you hear yourself saying, “I just don’t have the time!” or “Only, if I had more time I would…”
I get it. I’ve been there. We all have deeply rooted habits that influence the way we view and use time. So when it comes to dreaming, setting goals, and making changes towards those goals, it’s often easier to say, “I don’t have the time.” Are we really lacking time management skills? Or is it the choices we make that rob us of having more time?
In this article, we will unlock 5 ways to gain more time in our lives.
Let me ask you something:
Considering that we all have 24 hours in a day, why do some people get more done?
What habits, personality traits, experiences, and skills lend to more efficient uses of our time?
I have learned and applied a few simple ways to get it together and improve how I manage myself (cause I can get derailed easily!)
Here are 5 tips to get even more out of your day and to get closer to your goals (the easy way.)
- Study highly successful people. You know, the ones you admire because of their organizational skills and ability to manage stress. The ones that get more done in less time. What are they doing that you are not?
- Do a brain dump. Honestly, one of the best exercises you can do for yourself is to get what’s in your head onto paper. This helps free your mind to think more clearly and gain perspective. (Btw, this is what truly happy high performers do.)
- Prioritize what’s most important. After that brain dump, take a few minutes to go over your priorities. Get in the habit of looking at your priorities every morning. This will lend to a more productive day and diminish that feeling of frustration at the end of the day when you realize you forgot an important item on your list.
- Learn to delegate. Whether at home or at work, partner up with others who can help you take the load off. There is tremendous return on investment when we delegate; do the math and you’ll see. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with enlisting the help of others to help you be more productive.
- Give yourself a break. For goodness sake! The most successful movers and shakers take breaks. They have hobbies. They read. They workout. They meditate. Because they are selfish? No! It’s because they have learned the value of rejuvenation by walking away and finding ways to enjoy life.
Okay, so I gave you five things to do. Knowing that you’re already on a time crunch, guess what–those five things will be the time savers you’ve been looking for. Making wise choices of how you will spend your time isn’t rocket science, it is common sense.
Go ahead and change one habit today!
